Today's Workout: Blech!

Today I went to the gym for a couple of classes - a half hour abs class and an hour of kickboxing with an instructor who shall remain nameless. She taught both classes, and while I imagine she might be a nice person, she's not my cup of tea as an instructor. This woman, who is as fit as a fiddle, is like so many other instructors I have seen (even dated) in my years of working out. She wants to prove to the class that she's a bad-ass. She's strong, she's hardcore. Yeah, we get it. I've taken classes with her about a handful of times now, and each time I am turned off by her style. She wants to make it so difficult that people have to stop or feel sick. And when someone does stop to take a breather, she calls them out on it. God forbid you step out to go take a piss - she asks where you're going, over her mic, in a taunting voice that really annoys me. Today she told us 3 times she was going to make us sick, or that her class might kill us today. Then she walks around and "corrects" people and does so in a teasing manner. Honestly, it's these kind of people, in my opinion, who lack self esteem, and only feel better when they are known as the "tough" instructor.

But, she has a huge following. Her class was packed. Guess misery loves company!
I just know I am going to avoid her classes if I can help it.

  2. Not the way to approach things. Good instructors tell people to work to their breaking point...take a break when needed and rejoin as soon as possible.
