Spinning and Boot Camp - what was I thinking?!?

This morning's classes might have me limping slightly for the rest of the day.

I started off at 9:30 with spinning. I am liking this class, simply because I know I am getting something done - my legs have got to tone up from this and the intensity of the cardio aspect is off the charts! This morning's instructor, Hazel, said something I won't forget..."right now you should be comfortably uncomfortable."  Comfortably uncomfortable! And guess what? I was! My quads were indeed hurting and burning. But only to the point where I might "puff" at the fire, like trying to blow out candles. Not hurting so much that I might want to empty a bucket of water to extinguish the flames!

I made it through spinning and really wanted to get in some lifting, or sculpting. I saw they were having a "boot camp" class at 10:30, so I headed there. I saw the participants set up to go with body bars, hand weights, and steps, so I thought this was right up my alley. However, little did I know this class would include a bunch of cardio!  Didn't I just put my heart through the ringer with Spinning? Uggh - we were led to do all kinds of bursting activities, like bounding up onto the step, and jumping off and on. My knees HATED me! I did modify to an extent (even though I felt like an old fart) to lesson the impact.

To say the least, I got through class, feeling good that I endured and lived by my old gym motto, "suck it up buttercup."
