The Bosu is not your friend!

Hi all. It's Tuesday at 8 pm, and I finally can tell you about my personal training today.
It was tough today. More so than usual and i think it's because I put in so many miles this weekend, and partly due to the not-so-good food I ate. My body was just sweating out the sodium from my chinese food!

Anyway, I started the day with an hour of kickboxing with Cheryl, which rocked. Then began the pain - an hour of PT. Today we did a lot of leg work, using a step machine I was not familiar with. It had a platform that I put one foot on, and I would step putting the weight on that leg, while tapping the platform with my other foot, and coming back down deep on the leg on the floor. We did several sets, and then bounced on the leg on the floor, which caused the leg on the platform to really burn! Later I did squats and leg lifts while balancing on the bosu. For those not familiar with a bosu, it's like a big body ball, cut in half. The flat half sits on the floor, and I stood on the ball part.

For the balance-challenged, like me, it can be a real bitch trying to stay up there on that bosu, and squat, stand and lift one leg. Again, my pegs were screaming. And when I finished a set and got off moaning, my trainer said something funny, "The bosu is not your friend."  So true!

We also did several sets of shoulder, tricep and chest presses with a plated bar. And we followed those sets with sets where I only raised the bar half way up. Whew! I wondered how I might drive my car home from the gym while I was pushing that bad boy away from my forehead.

I train again on Friday this week. Next week I am on my own, since my trainer will be sunning her bikini-ready body on the beaches of Cancun. We decided that i will do my first weigh-in the following week. So, stay tuned folks - and see if I am making progress.
