Going Insane in Spin Class

Today's spin class was awesome! I think it was the music. Once again Hazel plays these techno/rock mixes I have never heard, but loved. In fact, this one song, that I am going to post here, was so freaking cool. Listen to this beat, you can feel it's power and speed. It made me feel like I was chasing down a purse-snatcher and then whooping his ass!!
And it's not just the music that gets me going, it's the things Hazel says. For instance, during this song when the singer is repeating "insane," and you hear the music lulling, we are standing on our bikes (in 2nd position-hands at the front of the handlebar) in what's considered a recovery period. We're still pedaling fast, but catching our breath.

At this point in a song, it's easy to want to turn your gears back down and rest, because you know a "push" is coming. The music is building, you hear the crescendo about to break, and you know it's gonna be time to turn up the gears and pedal as fast as you can in standing 3rd position (hands on the ends of the grips). Imagine, your legs are on fire, your heart wants to bust through your chest, and all you want is for it to end.

At that moment I'm about to reach down and turn the gears back, to make it easier, give myself a break. The music starts building and then I hear Hazel say, "I can't make you turn up the gears, I can't make you pedal faster. It's all up to you. " And just when the thump-thump-thump of the music gets louder and faster and is about to explode, she shouts, "WHAT WILL YOU CHOOSE TO DO?!!!!!!!!"

I swear, between that song and those words, I was compelled, and I don't use that word lightly - I was forced to turn up my gears a full turn, and pedal like I have never pedaled before! Yee-haw! I am sure I let out a holler and felt this incredible feeling of power inside. And it lasted all the way through class. In fact, I feel pretty darn invincible right now. Thanks Hazel!
