Drama at the gym today

While I don't have much new and exciting to report on my day's exercise, I do have a funny story.
I went to the gym this morning for a spin class. In the spin studio, there's two sides of the room: the fan zone, and the no-fan zone. That just means that they turn the fans on in one side of the room, and on the other side of the room they stay turned off. Apparently there are some folk out there who prefer to ride in a sauna. They don't WANT the fans turned on. I guess they think by sweating more they are getting  a better workout.

I think they are crazy. Give me air, and give me a lot of it! So, I perch myself in the fan-zone. In fact, I choose a bike that gets blasted by a high-powered fan from both behind and in front of my face. There's nothing like pedaling my ass off, and imaging I am speeding down a big hill, with the wind whipping in my hair.

As I entered the spin room, I noticed someone had moved my wonderful fan, and pointed it toward the wall. Of course, I moved it back to where it belonged. I left the room for a quick trip to the bathroom, and when I got back, I was stopped outside the room by a nice lady who was upset because a "crazy lady" had moved the fan and pointed it toward the wall again. I was told that this woman once "flipped out" on the last person who had tried to point the fan toward the bikes. Apparently, "crazy lady" belonged in the no-fan zone, but chooses to spin on the wrong side, and make everyone's ride miserable.

I alerted the instructor that our side would like the fan pointed at the bikes, and not the wall. Immediately "crazy lady" gets off her bike and starts playing with the fans to divert the wind, while the folks who like it gusty, told her to move over to the other side of the room . It was hysterical! She stayed put for about 20 minutes into the class, and then got off her bike in an obvious huff, and left the studio. I think I heard a few cheers! Someone later told me this lady uses 4 lockers in the ladies locker room, and has been told to leave the gym a few times. I don't know about that, but I do know that I'll be looking forward to my next ride. Stay tuned - these our the days of our lives!!
