Peanuts banned on airplanes??

Have you heard this news story? Apparently the DOT is considering banning peanuts on airplanes for folks with peanut allergies. You pretty much get nothing on flights anymore without paying for it, except the little bag of nuts. Oh and a dixie cup of beverage. So, to say they are removing peanuts from flights seems like yet another way for the airlines to save a few pennies.

If it's truly in the best interest of those with allergies, why not just leave it up to those with the allergies. They know they can't eat peanuts, right? So don't eat them. Is it necessary for a government body to regulate it?

It's just like the story I heard recently about the city in California that was banning toys from Happy Meals. Are you serious? The only reason my kid wants a happy meal is for the toy! Guess Big Brother felt it would keep childhood obesity in check. Haven't they heard that happy meals come with milk, and apple slices now?

I guess I just don't like someone taking away my choice to enjoy peanuts or happy meals. And doesn't goverment have bigger issues to deal with?
