At first I was a little disappointed. I do like his dance class, but I really wanted to try something new, and come back here with a full report. Alas, it was not to be. Instead of journaling about what might have been a butt-busting experience, I'll tell ya all about my butt-shaking experience!
Omar is a dance machine. He moves his little ass faster than any man, or woman, I know. He plays a variety of latin and top-40 music, and we just follow his every move. There's no microphone, no choreography to follow. It's like Simon Says. If Omar raises his hands over his head and swivels in a sexy circle, we raise our hands and swivel in a sexy circle. (maybe not quite as sexy though. This guy really has the moves) So, unlike other dance classes I have tried, there's less pressure in this one to keep up with the moves. Here you can let go, and just do your own thing. We run around the room, and every so often incorporate what just feels like good-old fashioned aerobics, like high kicks. Most of all, we really shake our hips and get a good sweat. I like this class because it keeps my heart rate low enough to be in the fat-burning zone the whole time.
Yesterday the class was a bit smaller than I've experienced during the week, so I had a full view of myself in the mirror. While I admit to feeling a bit embaressed sometimes in this class, as I am not the best dancer, yesterday I felt pretty good about it. Maybe it was because there was less peer pressure!
At any rate, I had a great time dancing and got a good workout at the same time. Can't beat that!
